Sketchbook

Just been continuing with my sketchbook. I'm really enjoying the theme 'Road work or Artwork?' It's given me a lot of ideas.

17th-23rd of February

Ok so this week started off pretty well in Pauls class we did a peer exercise were we all read each others PLP's  (Personal Learning Plan) and gave pointers and advice on how to improve them. I thought this was a really good exercise as it allowed me to see what I liked about other people's work and meant that I would find out what I needed to improve. As we were doing this we were all taken off individually as to talk about our grades. Paul said that my work so far was excellent! I was so chuffed with that and I'm going to try to keep up the standard (I need to work on my blog though but I'm getting there). Then in Ewan's class we worked on our sketchbooks and then he gave us feedback from our drawing work which was again positive so I'm pretty happy with that. So Monday was a good day.

Tuesday we were making our own collagraphs for printing which was pretty time consuming but I enjoyed it, it was pretty relaxing. Then in Dot and Catherine's class we worked on our sketchbooks some more nothing out of the ordinally.

Wednesday I got my glasses! This is sort of college related I suppose and as now I can see clearly which is always good.

Friday when we got in on we discovered that David wasn't coming in so we decided to sit at the computers (some people sent off their essays, some did researched, some discussed our projects) then we decided to go for an early lunch. We went to Jimmy Chongs which was really nice. Its really lovely, I think, that our class go out and do things together so that was nice. Then we came for Dee's class where we were all working on our individual photoshop projects. I actually really pleased how many work is turning out as at the start I found photoshop really difficult.

Over the weekend I've been doing some more sketchbook work and that's about it for this week.

Something pretty cool!

Today Bethan decided to draw me in class! It was one of the pictures from out class night out. It's so good! I'm really impressed but what I like most is how we have all be inspiring each other and helping each it's a really nice environment to work in.

Double Rainbow!

Today was really interesting as when we were in our last class of the day we spotted a double rainbow! It's was pretty exciting (ok we might have overreacted a tiny bit) half of us ran outside to see it, as well as half the other classes! We snapped up some good photos and as they say weather can inspire work, we didn't get much work done but it did really lift our spirits.

Really?

That's the presentation out of the way! However it was a bit of a disaster at the beginning. Just as I was starting to talk the computer froze, then crashed! I was terrified. I couldn't believe it, why me? However after a few minutes (that felt like hours) we got it working again and I started over. Because of the initial problems I was quite jittery about what I was saying and I felt like I was tripping over my words but it seems to go ok.
Hopefully next time it won't be as much of a disaster. Although according to Scott it's was actually good (not sure I believe him). Oh well just my luck.

Pathways Presentation

For our pathways project we have to give a short PowerPoint presentation on the 3 pathways (Visual Communications, Applied Art Crafts and Contemporary Art Practice), artists that we admire within the pathways, which one we feel we want to be in, what type of work we want to create. The actual making of the powerpoint wasn't a problem however I stressing out about giving the presentation. I really don't like standing up and talking in front of people, sort of like stage fright and I know I'll end up babbling and going off topic. However thankfully our class gets on really well and we having all be supporting each other and discussing it. It makes me feel better that I'm not the only one that is worried.
I hope that I can get through as I think that we will be giving quite a few presentations in our time here. So hopefully I can get used to it and by the time I'm a 3rd year it'll be a breeze. Hopefully.
