Printing not Painting

Actually instead of painting we are actually printing, which was still really good. I've done mono-printing before so it was quite fun to try the technique again. However when I was at school we didn't have the best of supplies so getting to use more high quality materials was really good and I feel like it did make a difference.
Although I would've liked to get back into painting the printing was really fun and I've been having fun experimenting with.

Painting starts today

Today we will be starting painting which I'm really looking forward too (as is Rhonwyn never seen her this excited!). Painting is what a few years I thought I was going to be doing for the rest of my life, whilst I'm glad I decided to allow my self to try new things and look into more options I think it'll be good to get back into painting. It seems like such a long time ago since I last painted something, I'm not sure what I'll be painting (as it's for our Teansformation brief) but I'm sure I'll enjoy the class and hopefully learn some new techniques.
These are some painting that I did whilst I was in school. I'm still really proud of these and I hope that I'll get the chance to do something like this (not about music but using the techniques and skills I already have and know about).

Bad mother :(

Today I did something terrible I dumped Chantelle, my baby coconut. She was just, just, I wasn't feeling it. Clearly I'm not cut out for motherhood! So she was binned maybe I should wait to adopt children (or fruit for that matter!)

Contextual Studies

For contextual I want to look at graffiti artists. Banksy is one that seemed most obvious to pick as his work is world renowned. Rather than looking just into his work as whether it's art or vandalism I'm going to look at in from the perspective of social class and how he work tackles this. I've found several interesting articles about his work but I need to do more research into the authors of the articles and which one I want to write about for my critical review.

Reading Week

Well it's half way-ish through week now and I'm pretty happy with the work that I've done. I been doing research for contextual and writing (and rewriting) ideas down for my critical review. I've created a few pages in my pathways projects that I'm quite happy with and I've been doing something's I haven't done in ages. I've just been drawing, not class, not projects, not for anyone else other than myself. For the past few months I've been far too busy (and stressed) to sit down and just draw. However I've been doing just that this week, which has really cleared my head and helped me feel so much better. I've been doing some simple illustrationy type drawings of fairy tale characters (show in Alice from Alice in Wonderland). I really like the way they turned out. I know that I was struggling in block one and my work wasn't the best but I'm hoping to try my hardest to get myself back on track. I want to prove that I do deserve my place on this course and that I can achieve if I work hard and put my mind to it.

Block 1 is over!

Well that's block one over officially! Quite scary to think about how long we've in this course now but I really enjoyed block 1 and hope block 2 is just as good. As we are changing timetable we we will no longer have our lecturer Alison for 3D which is a shame as I really enjoyed the 3D part of the course I got to try lots of new techniques like glass (turns out I LOVE glass!) and various other things.
We've finished Creative concepts and Drawing so we will now be doing Pathways on Mondays and Tuesdays which I'm really looking forward too as it is to help us decide what area we want to go into Applied Arts, Visual Communications or Contemporary Art Practice or a combination of 2. This is something I've been struggling with as I don't really know what I want to be/do. Hopefully this project will help to clear things up in my head.
I'm also really looking forward to starting painting as it's something that I've really loved and I think getting back into it will help clear my head and allow me to think about what I want to do.

That's 3D over! :(

I've really enjoyed the 3D work shops that we've been having and I feel like I've learned so much, and had the chance to really explore some options that were never given to me when I was at school. I hope that I will still use some of the techniques that I've learned even though we won't be continuing with the tutorials.
Here just some work shop selfies just because:

This is a picture of me with the beautiful crown that Scott made me. Beautiful is what we are going with ok guys?

On the wall!!

Today we handed in all our drawing work and I'm pretty happy with the drawings that I created. We even got to put them up on the wall which I was quite pleased about as it was the first time that our class had had work on the wall. I'm quite happy with the way that I presented my work and I hope that I get a decent grade!
